TRADITIONAL LUXURY KITCHEN FOR SYDNEY HERITAGE HOME
Nothing less than this ornate, hand painted kitchen with solid timber doors and framed construction would suit this luxury, circa 1892 residence. Featuring dentil capping and a combination of fluted and cotton reel pilasters, the kitchen is a clever use of a narrow and unusual space with a separate scullery.
As true custodians of this exceptional heritage home, he owner’s design goal was to transform their old kitchen into truly luxurious space that would do just to their grand old home.
The existing kitchen space was a true challenge to design as the room was very long and narrow with four entry points and two gorgeous windows that had windowsills below benchtop height.
These all combine to leave very limited space in which to create a beautiful yet functional space
that could hold the beautiful Sub Zero refrigerators and Wolf freestanding stove and still have the wow factor impact of an Entertainer’s kitchen.
The design demanded a high level of intricate ornate decoration that started with timber framed
construction and exposed butt hinges to cabinet doors. The impressive island features large corbels and an impressive 80mm calacatta marble benchtop with underbench strip lighting.
What is inside the cabinetry is just as impressive with hand crafted solid timber dovetail drawers.
The open scullery is no less beautiful, with the same traditional stylings showcasing animpressive workbench, additional sink and microwave.
